This game started S-L-O-P-P-Y for both teams. Wolves had 5 turnovers in the first 6 minutes and were shooting 21%. They did not make this game easy on them from getgo. I noticed the refs were letting them play aggressively early on, but that stopped not long after. Wolves were in foul trouble most of the game.

Side note: The Suns are a great team to watch. They go through multiple flows in their offense. We see Devin Booker picking apart his defender in an iso and next possession the ball movement is impeccable.

I cannot praise the bench enough. They helped keep the Timberwolves in this game. They helped close the 1Q on a 8-1 run. Nowell was great and it helped get KAT going. Wolves were hanging tough to start the second quarter but there was zero offensive flow when the starters got back on the floor. KAT eventually started to get going again later in the 2nd quarter: 6 points in two minutes.

The 3rd quarter just as every Timberwolves 3rd quarter does. They got the doors blown off. Plus KAT and McDaniels picked up fouls in the first 40 seconds. What is crazy though is KAT and some bench players got this game back to a reasonable deficit, cutting it from 18 to 12. Then JMac and Naz got it to 8. Ant knock down back-to-back 3’s to get it to 2, AND THERE IS LIFE.

Then the Suns starters come back in. And boy did the entire script flip. They ran the Wolves starters out of the building. Cam Johnson knocked down three monster 3’s in the 4th and CP3, per usual, took your soul in the 4th with some patented pull-up mid-range jump shots. Wolves would hit some shots to make it slightly interesting, but nothing to get it back to a tight game again.

The Phoenix Suns defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves 116-107. Timberwolves are gonna need to find an answer for Giannis and the Milwaukee Bucks when they come to town on Friday.

General Thoughts:

  • Anthony Edwards free throws are rouuuuuugh. He was again 3-5 tonight and is shooting 64% this season. Down from 78% his first two years in the league.

    • Also, have we seen a dunk from him this season?... Genuine question

  • Rudy Gobert needs to work on catching the ball inside the paint. Dropped two easy passes early in the game.

  • There is no swagger with this team like last year. Not sure if Patrick Beverley was the reason, but there isn’t that charisma.

  • I tried to make my own stat: A-TOF, meaning Assists - (Turnovers + Fouls). You will lose any game if this is under 1. BOY WAS I WRONG. I think every game tonight debunked this idea

  • What is it about people catching heaters against the Wolves. Cam Johnson tonight. Lauri Markanen a couple days ago. Desmond Bane last year… Feels like someone always steps up and shreds us.
